We all seem to run up credit card debts. Reduce the amount of interest you have to pay by signing up for new cards (but only the ones advertising no interest on transfered balances), transfer the balance and pay it off quicker. I do this whenever the interest-free period is coming to an end. Sounds dishonest, but they're the ones making the offer...

Also cards that give cash rewards, like 1 pound for every 100 you spend. If you use your card like a charge card and pay it off every month, they'll end up owing you money - provided you use it for absolutely everything like tickets, petrol, shopping. I remember having a card where I got 70 quid back at the end of the year just for using it.
