What's to say? Bel's off gallivanting again, so you'll have to put up with me.

No worry, though – our globe-trotting editor will be back next week with exciting stories to tell. (All I know so far is that it was colder on the North Sea than she anticipated. She wouldn't tell me whether she encountered any pirates there, so my imagination is running wild.)

I guess you've heard by now that Planet Earth was not destroyed by Vogons and/or radio preachers on 21 May. I figure we're mostly happy about this, although it means we have to get up and go to work this morning. See below for contributions that muse on the non-event. Or peruse the contributions that ignore the non-event in favour of more interesting happenings. Or go hog wild and read all of them. Whichever you choose, you're in for some treats in this issue, which – like all Post issues, naturally – is chock-full of what the late, great Philip K Dick would have called 'high-type material'.

A hint from me: we're still accepting entries for 'Advertise the Un-Advertisable'. Put your (tinfoil) thinking caps on, and come up with something. We expect the Patent Office to be beating the door down any minute now.
