Please read the other thread that I started the other week - at the moment this place is recovering from severe flooding. Several people died. I am sure it will be cleared up by next summer, though, and they will be grateful for tourists bringing money back into the region.

Yes, they have had a pretty rough time this autumn, and earlier this year as well. Not what you associate with the Med at all. This, of course, was written quite a while ago, before all the bad weather etc., so now I feel a little guilty at the touches of cynicism. Go there, walk the walk, eat the anchovies and drink the wine.
