A Conversation for The Phrase 'Go You Big Red Fire Engine!'

Go, you good thing

Though an Australian , I confess to never having heard the phrase , nor yet of the comedian named in the posting.

This is possibly the result of not being a parochial Melbournian. (No offence to a fine city )

I may catch up in time.

A Rugby Union commentator , who goes by the totally apt nickname of Buddha ( physically speaking ) uses , or even OVER uses , the phrase * Go you good thing * most enthusiastically , especially on replays of try -scoring .

I concur - I have never heard of the phrase, much less heard it used enthusiastically in the course of normal conversation.

I've heard "Go you good thing" regularly shouted out at sport matches, etc.

ps - I am also not a Melburnian, but I do travel enough and have enough friends/family there to have at least heard it once...

I have heard and used this phrase when exclamation is needed, but one does not want to use socially unacceptable language. I don't know it will last, just another piece of silly slang that say "We're us, and you ain't!"
