Surely that depends on what you're watching. I'm sure that's true if you're watching Jerry Springer.

The lecturer did not specify what TV shows were involved. IMHO, US television was a "vast wasteland" (per the FCC Commissioner) years ago, and has gone downhill. OTOH, TV's do make good monitors to watch videos like "O, Brother, Where Art Thou?"
