A Conversation for Bookmarks
Plastic cards

With the advent of the credit card-sized piece of plastic, I find I have and increasing collection of great bookmarks. Things like new style hotel keys with the magnetic stripe, expired loyalty cards, expired student or work IDs, thing like that. They come in such a great range of designs and colours that I can often find one that matches the genre or colouring of the book I'm reading.
They're fairly robust so don't crease or break and, being slightly thicker give a good indication of whereabouts in the book you are without leaving any sticking out of the top of the page. It does depend on the book as to whether it might be considered too thick and cause damage to the pages or spine.
There is a slight downside that, often being shiney, it might slip out from between the pages if the book is picked up in the wrong way.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
