Basil? Is that you Basil?

Looks great, I'll give it a try but it sounds like it might need a touch of basil. I might even add rice if I wanted a hearty soup.

This reminds me, I haven't had breakfast yet.. Shouldn't read recipes on an empty stomach...
Mmm, Amy! I can almost taste it! Can't wait to get home and try it out!

I wonder if it would work with some chervil (French parsley) in this soup too? I think I have some still in the garden.
soup, soup, beautiful soup...

I find that it's best to add herbs or cream but not both. The soup is very nice without the cream but the tomato flavour is very intense. Both basil and chervil would work well.
Today I made another of my favourites: lemon and cardamom vichyssoise. Make a soup with a small onion, two large leeks and three large new potatoes to which you have added a strip of lemon peel and crushed cardamom seeds. Remove the lemon peel before blitzing. You can add cream but I didn't. Dress with salt, pepper and lemon juice before serving.

Just finished (last night) consuming a hearty pot of lentil and wild rice soup. Sauted onions, cracked pepper, vegetable broth..mmmmm. Just the thing for a cool autumn evening.

Did the tom soup last night. Was really good. We have a Chinese kid staying with us at the moment and he put some chinese noodles for soup in, good plan!

Tom soup? With lime leaves? I used to have a good recipe but I can't find it anywhere. Do you have it?

I have a confession to make. I used tinned tomatoes instead of tomatoe juice. They look the same once they have been squished up in the blender. I have one of those fantastic hand blenders which mean that you don't have to keep spilling soup everywhere transferring it from pan to blender and back. A must for any serious soup maker.

I got one of those! Haven't seen it for a while though...
Today I got tomatojuice! And I also bought frozen green peas for my next experiment: green peas soup. I know, I know, easy peasy but I haven't done that one before....

Amy's Pea Soup: Fry a small onion over a low heat without colouring. Add about 175g peas, 600ml vegetable or chicken stock, a small amount of chopped mint and a new potato, chopped. Simmer for about 20 minutes. Allow to cool slightly. Add more chopped mint. Blitz and season.

I miss the Clangers. On black&white TV. I was shocked when I found out that they were pink!
Now, last question: Cream or not? In the pea-soup, I mean..

Definitely no cream. A blob of yoghurt if you want to make it look pretty, perhaps.
