I've read a lot about Constantine (Byzantine history is a hobby of mine) but I never knew about this! It's fascinating to note the story of the Arch of Hadrian- I knew he'd stolen it, but I never knew he'd made such a hack job of recarving it. Well done! Habe you got anything more like this up your sleeve?

I find myself stroking my (fairly hairy) chin in deep contemplation...

Doesn't his place as the "Godfather of Christianity" date back to the Council of Nicea, where the heads of all the arguing Christian sects were forced into one room and made to vote by a show of hands on whether each fundamental tenet of the religion was true or not, on pain of death?
Basically, any book of the Bible which got a majority vote was "absolute truth, inspired by God himself", while those which failed to reach a majority were relegated to the status of "apocrypha" - which is the origin of the Bible as published to this day. Now, *that's* how to run a religion!
