I find it incredbile that this well-written article makes no reference to the number of dives that 'Alvin' has done. According to Richard Ellis in 'Deep Atlantic', Alvin has made around 3000 dives, more than any other manned submersible. Even though she (?) is nearly 40 years old, Alvin is still in operation and I think this record deserves recognition.
