I have one of the devices, which I use with a laptop.
From personal experience, the position of the device is critical, to obtain a good reception. Movement will loose a whole multyplex of stations. even then the signel often changes and dropout can be experienced.
DAB is fantastic and clear, though not as good as a cd but worthwhile to listen without the birdie interfierience from FM.

The Psion Wavefinder is a very cool device but in order to achieve operation on my Athlon laptop I had to purchase a powered usb hub. I still experienced lots of drop outs and looping but achieved perfect reception with a new power adapter (Uniross UNI505R, 12V 500mA regulated). No problems since (+ it doesn't seem to get as warm as it used to).
