Is it just my imagination, or was there a period of about three months after this film was released where *every* pun had to be on this quotation. To the point of mind-numbing aggravation...

CNN started doing it the other week . They've even done 'Field of Nightmares' a few weeks ago. Can't remember what that report was about...

I presume they kept telling Costner the same thing about Water World and The Postman.

As a newspaper copy editor, this is one expression I've had to excise more times than I can count, even now, 13 years after the film's release.
Every time a new public stadium or park is proposed in an American city, someone feels the need to trot out this expression with an appropriately misty look in their eyes. Bad enough when a public official does it. Worse still when a reporter or editor inserts it.
I speak as a fan of the film and a fan of baseball, but the quote is old, and has been for some time.
