The Tale of Raymond and Pearl

I knew a wicked man who married a wicked girl

They had two wicked children, Raymond and Pearl

Ray became a pirate and sailed the seven seas

Pearl became a temptress, bringing men to their knees

Ray stole money from the rich, never giving to the poor

Pearl sold her body, many strangers called her whore

Ray was captured by the navy and hung until dead

Pearl caught a disease and died alone in her bed

Is there a moral to this tale, a meaning to this rhyme?

If I need to tell you, then I've not caught you in time
