apt?

"was very apt at converting people"
Is that a typoe for 'adept'? 'apt' means 'quick to learn' or 'exactly appropriate' or 'having a natural tendency' - which is reasonable enough, but I don't *think* you can be apt *at* something. It's not that kind of adjective?
Oh I dunno - it just feels wrong, that's all *shrug*
apt?

As much as it pains me to do so, I'll have to concede the point to you there, Lucy. My dictionary has apt as meaning 'having a specified tendency' which again, I suppose is ok, but adept might well suit the sentence more.
