I'm not sure if it is exactly the same cactus, but a friend on mine imported one of those big cacti to Australia and it spent quite a long time in quarintine etc. When he got it home he noticed a peculiar thing. Every time he watered it isshook violently.
He rang up a horticulturist who specialized in cacti and told him.
The man freaked told him to get out of the house and take all the animals etc with him.
Soon the firebrigade and the horticulturist arrived carrying flame throwers etc.
Then started torching the cactus and trillions of big scary and poisonous spiders started to try and escape the flames.
The thing was full of them and they didn't like to be watered.
Scary huh

It happened to my friend. Saw the burn marks and helped with the redecorating.
