Returning to JERUSALEM he is overjoyed to be reunited with Esther...
In addition, one must assume, the use of Michelangelo's painting is only to provide a backdrop for the opening titles. We don't actually see any scene take place in the Chapel, do we. It is simply to set the biblical mood of the piece.
On the other hand, another historical error in the film itself: Tiberius was not Emperor at the time the film covers. This was realised before its release, but too late to do anything about it, as all those scenes had already been shot and it would have been impractical to reshoot them just to satisfy the pedants.
