A Conversation for Growing Up in the 1980s
Music of the 80`s

Like everyone else, I`ve got my own ideas about what was great (and not so great) about the 80`s.
During the 80`s I was aged from 8 to 18, so it is an era which is remains long in my memory.
Music was (still is) my main thing, but there seemed to be some years which stood out more than others. Here are some of my faves....
1981 - 1982
Soft Cell - Non-Stop Erotic Caberet
Human League - Dare
Simple Minds - New Gold Dream
The Associates - Sulk
ABC - The Lexicon Of Love
Depeche Mode - A Broken Frame
Yazoo - Upstairs At Eric`s
1984
Frankie Goes To Hollywood - Welcome To The Pleasuredome
The Smiths - The Smiths
1988 - 1989
S`Express - Theme From S`Express
Bomb Da Bass - Beat Dis
The Beatmasters feat PP Arnold - Burn It Up
The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses
Happy Mondays - Wrote For Luck
There are many more, but I don`t want to bore you (plus, I don`t think anyone is posting in the 80`s section anymore).
Let us know what your faves are.

That's the joy of h2g2 - there's always the chance that someone might post back to an entry years later.
I love almost every one of those albums. And the alternative Soft Cell one, Non-stop Ecstatic Dancing. Were they the first artists to do a remix album?

Quite probably yes. Human League`s "Love And Dancing" instrumental remix of Dare came out in `82, so they probably nicked the idea.
