Brilliant machines they are.
We used out to play games, 'Roland on the Ropes', 'Roland in the Caves', 'Animal, Vegetable and Mineral', 'Oh Mummy!'.
So many wonderful memories.

So have we and it stll works, it had a good word processing package for its day, the printer used to auto feed and line itself up which was novel at the time. I think there's a company in SW London that sells spares still. It is so compact that we thought of letting our son use it at University as no-one would want to pinch it but the 3.5" disk compatibility was a problem. I also have a BBC micro that still works. The functionality of these machines is still perfectly adequate for the basic job of wordprocessing essays.

Hi All Amstrad Lovers
I still have an operating Amstrad CPC, it is reliable, does not lock up, does not keep asking for a password, Why do the BBC have such a hang up over passwords, what if any purpose do they serve?
I still use mine as a word processor, it prints clearly, it is very cheap to run, and a damn site less complicated than this computor. Snag is you cant Email or use the many advantages of Windows 98.
Were is this place in London that still has spares? used to be one in Liverpool but fell foul of a Heritage development.
Good Luck and lets keep the old CPC going PeterK

The main source of Amstrad spares in the UK is a company called... "CPC"... Really...! It predates the Amstrad CPC series, and stands for "Combined Precision Components". I hear rumors it was bought over by Farnell, but the CPC catalogues are still one of the best component catalogues around. In the days I was servicing Amstrads for a living, the "exploded" diagrams of the printers in the CPC catalogue were far more useful than the ones in the official service manuals.
