Crowd Noise: More than just timeouts!

Crowd noise not only causes visiting teams to take more timeouts than they might otherwise take, but also causes visiting offenses to commit more false-start and offsides penalties since they can't hear the call of their quarterback. This is particularly true at the Seattle Seahawks' Qwest Field, which leads the NFL in these kinds of penalties called on visiting teams. It also helps that the stadium was specifically designed to focus crowd noise onto the field.
