Hi,
I'm sorry, but this entry fell short in explaining how the computer calculates the X and Y position that was touched.
"When someone touches the screen, the two layers come into contact. The computer notes the change in the electric field and calculates the position of the touch."
First, it says that during operation a current flows. Should it not say that a voltage is applied? The current does not flow until the two metalic layers are pressed together. Is the voltage applied at the two sides or top and bottom? I could see how either of these would allow me to compute one component of the location if I know the resistitivy of the one layer. But how does it get the other dimension? Is it right to say that there is a change in the electric "field" in this, the resistive model?
