Spring weekend

Having grown up in Mansfield and spending entirely too much time on the UCONN campus (though I never attended classes there) I must say that the author forgot to include the most important event at UCONN. Spring weekend. Though parties, drinking and smoking certain illegal substances are fairly common practice on any given weekend (or weekday for that matter), spring weekend takes the cake.
Spring weekend takes place the last weekend in April. The festivities start Thursday night with "Kill-a-Keg". Kill a keg is held off campus at the infamous "Carriage House" apartments. I can't fully describe the events that happen at kill-a-keg as I was already quite inebriated the 2 times I've been there (my first trip to kill-a-keg was also my first experience of vomiting all over myself... good times) but basically it's massive amounts of people, drunk, stoned, both, just having a good time. Advice for people in attendance: be prepared to relieve yourself in the woods, carriage house is a rather small apartment complex (about 40 units) and attendance is in the thousands, don't expect to get near a toilet (unless you have connections).
Friday night is a night of campus wide partying without a specific location (though Celeron apartments across the way from Carriage House is extremely popular). If memory serves me it is also the night the college hosts a live concert (usually someone like Busta Rhymes). I won't say much more on the issue, as I've always been too hangover to attend.
Saturday night is the biggest party night of spring weekend. X-Lot. X-Lot is a parking lot. A commuter lot more specifically. Right between Hilltop dorms and North Parking Garage. One must remember to never EVER park in X-Lot during spring weekend. For those who do always seem to find their car on its roof... with all the windows broken... and usually smoldering from the inferno it had been the night before. X-Lot is truly a sight to see, at least 10,000 people in a parking lot (and an adjacent field) getting drunk, stoned, whatever while nearly the entire CT state police looks on. Several years back X-lot turned into a full-scale riot that made national headlines so the police have a very large presence so it's advised to not do anything too illegal in plain sight.
Sunday, of course is the day of recovery.
