My mom used to sing me a certain Vietnam era folk song with this line in the chorus: "Oh when will they ever learn?"
Unfortunately she didn't learn either, because she's pretty sure we had to take out Saddam Hussein before he caused any more terrorist attacks like he did on 9/11. Even the Gulf of Tonkin "incident" was a less ridiculous fabrication than the ostensible reasons for invading Iraq.
