Nice piece!
I grew up in Scunthorpe (well, someone has to) where the local ironstone is full of crinoid stems, among other things. One kind are five-pointed stars in cross-section, and sometimes you can find single segments which are not encased in any surrounding stone - tiny stone stars about 5 mm across and 2 mm thick. They used to fascinate me as a child, but it wasn't until many years later that I found out what they were.
Just thought you might be interested, that's all.

Hey Pinniped. Just found a load of crinoids stems mixed in with bryozoan fans the other week. All very small, but enchanting under a hand lens. I'll post some up on the web soon, and let you know.
