Ingrid Pitt may be the headline grabber in this area, but for the majority of fans the two top females in Hammer were Caroline Monro and Yutte Stensgaard. At the risk of being sexist they were better looking too!

Absolutely. I focused on Ingrid just because she'd had a more high-profile life since Hammer (authoress, The Wicker Man, two hilarious guest appearances in Doctor Who) and, I understand, has always embraced Hammer fandom.

Yutte Stensgaard was very beautiful, and my second favourite Hammer Female.
But Ingrid Pitt is the most popular with Hammer Fans, as she was in two Hammer Films, one Amicus film and a whole load of other interesting films.
Yutte Stensgaard sadly is not really highly rated on anything other than looks, mainly because she is only in one Hammer film ('Lust for a Vampire', which is apparently one of the worst) and she is dubbed. Though in my opinion Her facial acting is top notch (I even love the bit were her eye twitches when Ralph Bates says "YOU!").
I always find that Ms Stensgaard is unfairly treated (and so is 'Lust for a Vampire' in my opinion), as a lot of 'Hammer Fans' say she cannot act, but she is dubbed in 'Lust for a Vampire' anyway. I remember seeing her on the comedy series 'On The Buses', the episode was called 'The New Uniforms' and she is funny, un-dubbed and gorgeous!

I have a fondness for Kate O'mara. Though only remember seeing her in Horror of Frankenstein.
