A Conversation for Dealing with a Tomato Ketchup Shortage
If you are that organised

Well if you are sufficiently well organised to have tomato puree, tomato paste and one of those fancy vinegars in your kitchen I think you would be most unlikely to run out of ketchup! And if (heaven forbid) you do, you should use brown sauce for a change.

Sounds good to me! Do you know how to make it?

Nope, not a clue - I just uscrew the lid and gloop it out. If I need more, I go and buy more. That's my sort of cooking!

I find the disorganized answer is to ask for ketchup packets from the hamburger stand when you order, they always give you more than you can eat, at least they do in Los Angeles.
Then take home and store the ones you don't eat in the door of your fridge. When you are down to eating them, they taste somewhat metallic. This is your impetus to go to the store and get more, soon, while allowing you to have something ketchuppy on your current meal.
