A Conversation for Origins of Days of the Week

The Hebrew tradition for a seven day week is of course based upon the
7-day creation in Genesis (or rather 6 days of creation and one of
rest.)
Also, our modern practice of changing from one day to the next at
midnight is different from that of the ancients. I believe that the
Romans (and many others) regarded the start of a day as beginning with
sunrise, whereas the Jewish practice has always started the day at
sunset (of what we think of as the 'previous evening') Which is why the Jewish sabbath (Saturday) actually starts on Friday evening.

I think it's the other way around. The creation myth came from the older tradition of seven day weeks.
