How were you introduced to Monty Python?
Lizzbett Posted Apr 23, 2004
My Mum is a python fan. My Dad hated the TV series but I think he likes the films. I have vague memories of the TV shows - the fish slapping dance and Mr Luxury Yacht whose name is pronounced Throatwobbler Mangrove (or is that from 'And Now For Something Completely Different?) but it is the films that I know best. I can remember my Mum letting us watch the first two films on TV and I can remember getting The Life of Brian out on video back in the days when it still wasn't allowed on the telly. Me and my best mate thought we were terribly clever when we saw 'The Meaning of Life' at the Regal Cinema in Boston when neither of us was quite 18.

I found holy grail on the tv when i was very young and instantly loved it for no reason at all. i then discoved my brothers owned the computer game that had all the clips and soun bites from the best sketches, and i was hooked! I have never looked back and have been building up my collection of python ever since.
Along the way i also discoved how incredibly georgeous and cute michael palin is, which adds a whole new edge to the viewing pleasure!

It's a shame that he isn't doing the travel programmes any more.

His words not mine.
Anyway isn't he in his late sixties now?
He must be nearly seventy.
I'm sad that he feels that he is old to, I think Micheal is probably my favourite Python.

Sixty Two.
He thinks that is too old to go galavanting about the world.
But he also said that he might still do one if it really caught his eye but that it was unlikely.

I'm confused now. I read that news article on BBC News where he told bootmakers to keep making them for him

Really?
Maybe he just likes boots?
Maybe I'm mistaken.
Maybe he discovered the elixir for eternal life on his travels and he is hoarding it for himself?

and occasionally falling over in a very sweet way. I motion that we make him the Patron Saint of Loonies, Clumsy Buggers, Wandering About and Saying Insightful and Humorous Things, Being Very Pretty, People with Stutters, Goldfish, Small Dogs, Hillwalking Boots, Travel Journalists, Large Reptiles, Cheesemakers, Carpet Factories, Earthworms, Chastity Belts, Coconuts, Lion Tamers, Chartered Accountants, Oxford University, Raspberry Souffle and Rich Tea Biscuits.

Oops. I forgot - he is also the Patron Saint of Occasionally Falling Over in a Very Sweet Way.
Incidentally, I was introduced to Python when Dadsie-pie made me watch life of Brian after he found it in a Large and Suspicious-Looking Box. Since then I have acquired all the films, Hollywood Bowl, the Best of Flying Circus and, as a tribute to (the newly canonised) St. Michael, Ripping Yarns. So Pythonesque. Almost makes me want to go to boarding school and develop an unhealthy obsession with precipitation, shovels, and black pudding.
