The Acrostic Poetry Challenge: Smiles
Created | Updated Oct 20, 2011
The Acrostic Poem has been a long-standing challenge, mainly between B'Elana and PedanticBarSteward. However, we've decided to open up the idea to anyone who would like to take part, as a regular poetry challenge.
The word chosen each time is the Telegram Game's current word, so if you join in or subscribe to the telegram game you'll know as soon as it's announced. When you've completed your poem, submit it by posting to a new thread below, and we'll put the best of them together in the next issue.
Have fun!
This Issue: Smiles
Dmitri Gheorgheni
Smile, though your heartburn's aching,
Milk of magnesia taking,
If you steer clear of the beer, there's no fear, dear.
Light up with bright incisors,
Even though your eyes are geysers,
Sharp taco sauce is not your blend, but friend, just SMILE.
Bel
Seeing the twinkle in your eyes
Makes me happy, and big style.
I'm certainly in love with you
Love just everything you do.
Each time you look at me like this
Sees me longing for a kiss.

Should I respond to that strange twinkle in her eye,
Methinks the maid can't really be quite so coy and shy,
I see her look and notice that her eyes speak more than words,
Let it be - time will tell - haste would be absurd.
Elusive - yes - but there's a little more than just a smile,
So – I shall sit and wait and dream and hope a little while.
