*I* personally find this sort of information fascinating..and I'd trust my little self a mile underground with you any day . Oh yeah, and I looked at your caving pictures...you're cute!!
*runs off giggling*

Awww
I'm not sure the pictures of me are hugely flattering - I'm really not photogenic, and rarely seem to end up being photograped clean-shaven.

Cameras really aren't fair are they? My typical experience "Here's a link to some pictures of me..*pause while they go look*..yes, I'm human. YES, a female!" *sigh* But really, as far as I can tell, youse a nicey looker .

I realised I did have a picture of me on my site at :
http://www.btinternet.com/~potholer/images/dw3.gif
but now I've had my hair cut rather shorter, it does look seriously strange to see myself like that.
I had to get a passport photo taken, and managed to find a digital-camera-based photo booth where you could have as many goes as you liked until you got a picture you wanted to print. I took loads of shots even to get the one linked to above. (I find it extraordinarily difficult to summon up an authentic-looking smile for photographs.)

With the background, you look like an *giggle*..
I can't summon up a decent smile for the life of me if there's even a lens in the vicinity

I wouldn't worry - from looking at your photos, I'd say your flat 'not-really-a-smile' carries way more humour in it than most other people's best efforts at camera-driven fakery.
(I suppose the white T-shirt/background on my picture *did* work out rather well, and all without the need for any sneaky Photoshoppery.)

*thinks she detects a compliment in there * Thanks .
Yes, yes, 'tis a great picture of you. Sooo..hmm..what have you been up to? (I'm totally lacking in creative thought this evening).

Currently, I'm looking for a new job, trying to get a little fitter, and browsing around.
Actually, I did a bit of Googling, and came across some of your academic writings (with a couple of well-chosen words, you're a pretty easy person to find on the net), which I really enjoyed reading.
Possibly that influenced my interpretation of your pictures - I'm a complete sucker for intelligent women.

*cough* *afew more neurons jump ship* What's this? Intelligent? Hmmm...(thanks though, I have such a hard time taking a compliment head-on)
Yes, I realized that I stuck my full name on my old UI site, a situation I really should remedy for reasons I won't mention . *is flattered, by the way, to have been the subject of a search* *i guess 'intelligent' girls find odd actions/words complimentary *

Your full name isn't even necessary - first name and place of study is quite enough for Google. Actually, I hadn't seen the UI site - Googling had taken me straight to the ethics discussions.
(If it's something you're concerned about people discovering, your surname is also on your new site on the ethno page.)
(Sometimes I'm glad to have seriously common first+last names.)

Yeah...I'm only lazily concerned about it. I suppose that would be one drawback to having what I convinced is a totally unique name combination. Ah..ethics. I said lots of half-asleep BS on that site, I do recall .

Given what I expect the time is over there, I'm surprised you're not half-asleep *now*.
