A Conversation for Some Great Castles of Wales

Surely you can't call it Castle Coch

It is Castell Coch in Welsh, which translates as Red Castle. Calling it Castle Coch or, even worse, Coch Castle is mixing languages in an appalling way.

Er, sorry...I thought there was something wrong when I was writing it.

I agree wholeheartedly with the comment about Castell Coch! Anyway, nice to read something about one of ny favourite subjects - Welsh Castles! It might be worth adding some sort of timescale to them - Castell Coch is contemporary with what is known as Cardiff Castle, but parts of Cardiff Castle (eg the motte) are Norman, and some of the foundations are Roman. (it is possible to see Castell Coch from one of the upper windows of the apartments in Cardiff Castle)

Also, it seems odd to mention Caerphilly Castle without its most conspicious feature (the leaning tower)

It's a dodgy bit of Wenglish but it is known locally as Castle Coch though it spelled Castell Coch.
