A Conversation for Mistletoe

Rarely Found in Oak Tress?

Post 1

My friends and I, here in the US's Pacific NW, went on a massive mistletoe gathering mission last Christmas, (note: mistletoe is considred a pest here) and the only place we could reliably find the stuff was busheling, dripping and falling off of Oak trees, and very sparsely anywhere else.

Maybe it's different in the States, but it's true it's rare on oak trees in the UK. smiley - smiley

I think it would do some good to include world-wide info in matters such as these. I notice an awful lot of entires that are very UK-centric on admitedly very broad, wide-ranging subjects. I love H2G2, don't get me wrong, but it is supposed to be the hitchhiker's guide to earth, not oriented towards the UK specifically, is it not?

Researchers (as I was when I wrote this) are encouraged to write about what they know, so that's why this particular Entry is UK oriented, because that's where I live (I did manage to fit in the American name for the plant). However, I've also written Edited Entries on France, Holland, and a Frenchman, and Edited Entries that offer information to people no matter what country they are in. smiley - smiley

The Edited Entries in the Guide reflect the interests and localities of the Researchers.

If you look at the Earth category - C42, you'll see what has been written about other parts of the world.

"The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy is a wholly remarkable book. It has been compiled and recompiled many times and under many different editorships. It contains contributions from countless numbers of travellers and researchers."
