I wonder if we could get Groff's to cater a meat... er, meet?
Or, failing that, I would if we could attract funding to research a 'Regional Meats of America' project? Sign me up if there's a glimmer of hope.
To think that there are still people about who think that the dyed and shrink-wrapped stuff at the supermarket is meat... Tragic.

They've got this cheese they do with horseradish mixed in that is perfect atop a nice stack of lean roast beef.
*gets hungry*
Plus all the weird Pennsylvania Dutch foods like scrapple, ham loaf, pig's stomach...
It's like heaven for carnivores.

Louisiana was like that, too. Some very nice ladies sent us on a trek for miles into the heart of sugar cane country, where we eventually found this Cajun carnivore's paradise. There ought to be a warning sign at the State line.
That's a long way to drive, but Pennsylvania's definitely within striking distance. Now, where did I leave my lederhosen?

Lederhosen?
Nah, a nice wide-brimmed black Amish hat would do you better.
We're plain folk, English.
And yes, I am piecing together an entry about the Pennsylvania Dutch. Slowly as it happens because I'm totally absorbed with Tibet at the moment. Truly fascinating stuff...

Very kind. It's a subject I feel strongly about... as you've probably surmised.
There's a community of plain folk just to the north of us, around the Kitchener-Waterloo region, which is very German. The twin city hosts the world's second biggest Oktoberfest - Not that it attracts many Mennonites, mind.

Is that the Octoberfest featured in that classic piece of Canadian cinema 'Strange Brew'?

You mean that pearl of the silver screen, destined to supplant Citizen Kane as the paragon of cinematographic art? Dunno.
But it probably is. It's one of the biggest drunk-fests in the world. Unfortunately, it's a bit too cold in October to offer New Orleans much competition in the Showing of Naughty Bits category.

Do you know if there is a way to order sausage from Groff's Meats without visiting Elizabethtown, PA? We love their sausage (having had some at a restaurant) and would love to have some at home.

I'm pretty sure they mail stuff via phone orders. I know in the Mince Pie season they ship stuff across the nation...
I'd suggest phoning them directly.
