A Conversation for Trikes

Sinclair C5

Swizz

When compiling the article I completely forgot another famous Trike - the Sinclair C5.
Launched in the mid eighties by computer tycoon Sir Clive Sinclair, the C5 did little to endear the British public to ecological transport.
Many consider it to be way ahead of its time however. The critisms it recieved from the press about its safety in traffic were well founded. If the cyclepath infrastructure existed though it would have surely had more success.
The reader may be wondering then why didn't he try to market the C5 in countries with a dedicated cyclepath network. The answer is that he did. The problem was that he tried this after failing to woo the British public. The government in Holland prevented Sir Clive from selling his C5 there because of the safety critism in Britain - even though it didn't really apply on a cyclepath!
Had the C5 been taken to Holland & similar countries first then it may have been more successful. All good in hyndsight I suppose.
A great shame really because you can't knock Sir Clive's vision, enthusiam, and penchant for Blondes!
