A Conversation for Beatles Biopics: 'Two of Us'

Great account of a great film

I only saw this film recently and quite knocked out by it I was too, not even realising why until I read this excellent article. The fact that Michael Lindsay Hogg directed it and Let it Be figures as to the authenticity of the dialogue and setups (but did you know that Michael Lindsay Hogg is actually Orson Welles' son? A fact only recently confirmed).

I remain very curious as to how many times John and Paul did socialise together as it's a lot more than has ever been mentioned in any one summary. I recently read an account by journalist Elliot Mintz of a Christmas Day he spent at the Dakota with John, Paul, Linda and Yoko and as it's in a book edited by Yoko ('Memories of John Lennon'), it must be a legit memory. He doesn't mention the year but this and Lennon's 'he sees me every time he comes through town' certainly sounds like there was a lot of material to draw from for this composite fictionalisation of those meetings.

I'm hoping there'll be more about this from Paul, Yoko and Lindsay-Hogg when 'Let It Be' does the promotional rounds.

Paul and John certainly seem to have seen each other often in 1974 as well as their last meeting in 1976. There's even reports that they jammed together for a couple of hours on one occasion, with the jam session recorded and tapes apparently owned by Yoko (although whether the tapes are 2 out-of-practice musicians who haven't played together for years or unheard musical masterpieces is another question...)
Hopefully we will hear more and get a proper 'Let It Be' release one day.
