You are antagonistic today aren't you Unc? Original series Star Trek is fantastic, especialll compared to the later series which are just driven by pretty SFX. Gene Roddenberry made truly groundbreaking TV with that series. And the Stones wrote some of the greatest songs ever ever ever. OKAY?

my point: groundbreaking does not equal good. in this case, it equals nuclear drivel. the first series of star trek was woodenly acted extremely boring repetative and mindless. but it *was* the first. and therefore obviously the best.
and the stones wrote some of the most unsatisfying songs ever written ever. theres excelleent, theres good, theres ok, theres bad, theres beatles, theres pop and then theres stones.
and antagonism is what i do

Thus proving that you don't hate all old music. HAH!

I did at one point prefer the traditional punk cover version of old stuff, but then I started to actually listen to the originals properly (and got too old to have safety pins through my head) and changed my mind.

not covers. but original music in a retro style. i refer you to the hives, the white stripes, or the parkinsons

Good point, though the Hives are massively overhyped, I do like the White Stripes (kind of Buzzcocks crossed with Led Zeppelin) and I must now go and find some Parkinsons to listen to.

no the hives have it all. the tunes, the stage presense, the mod style, the super mario alike bassist, the names, the wild staring eyes, EVERYTHING.

They're a second rate Buzzcocks/Jam rip-off.

What, are they made up of the remnants of Men at Work, Men they Couldn't hang and the Men without Hats?
The Other Vinyl Junkies
Uncle Heavy [sic] Posted Mar 28, 2002
no. they are the orignal cast of the men who are cool and excellent musicians.
