A Conversation for The Vesica Piscis - The Fish as Spiritual Symbol and Bumper Sticker

The Vesica Piscis

Lucky Llareggub - no more cannibals in our village, we ate the last one yesterday..

An informative article which I enjoyed reading. I had never realised that 153 was a special number. Have just looked in John Ch. 21 and yes, there it is in v.11: "It was full of large fish, 153..."
Reading your article I recalled two other instances of fish being important symbols.

The Rainbow Fish I believe is very ancient and worshiped by the Australian aborigines (there are some cave paintings or aboriginal drawings of it I seem to remember).

Then there was a documentary I saw, or a book I read, many years ago about a tribe, possibly in Africa, where young men were expected to ejaculate into the mouth of a fish on reaching manhood i.e. puberty.

Fascinating subject worthy of further study.
Well done!

I didn't know about the Aboriginal and African connections. Rock paintings are such good sources about these things. Thanks much. More research is clearly needed.smiley - smiley

I'll add my 'well done'. smiley - smiley

I've seen the symbol, of course, but I didn't realize there was so much behind it - very interesting. The Darwin fish is great; I've got to get one of those! smiley - laugh

JTG smiley - ok
