Many thanks indeed, John. By way of coincidence, my girlfriend managed to get an allotment the following day. She's a bit of a gardener herself, and she's really very excited about it (we live in London and so big gardens are the preserve of the extremely wealthy). I'm very happy for her, but I'm also happy for myself, too. I'm not exactly a 'child of the soil' and so I'm looking forward to her teaching me about plants and vegetables and earthy stuff like that.
