A Conversation for Mother's Day Presents
Mothering Sunday

It's still called Mothering Sunday in England, and I suspect the rest of the UK, and it's still celebrated on the fourth Sunday of Lent.
The cake traditionally associated with Mothering Sunday is the Simnel cake, a rich fruit cake baked with a layer of marzipan inside and one one top, topped with eleven marzipan balls to represent the apostles. The cake is eaten at Easter, by which time it has had a chance to mature a bit.
