Just discovered, from the local rag, that the burnt orchid is the county flower of Wiltshire.
In April, 2006, the burnt orchid was identified in a joint statement by conservation-based organisations, as one of Britain's fastest disappearing plants.

It flowers on traditional chalk downland, and depends for its survival on the county's 1,500 wildlife sites.
