Thanks for this fascinating entry. In Germany, we're pretty good at collecting glass and recycling it. I didn't know windows contained a small percentage of recycled glass. It's good to know they do.

I seem to spend most of my days recycling glass...

They exchanged most of the glass bottles for plastic ones here, which is a shame. So now we 'recycle' more plastic than glass (we used to have a great deposit system here for glass bottles).

Where are we going with recycling? Why are liquids put into bottles? My mother used to send me to the pub with a jug...

We went to buy milk in a 5 litre can.
