Morals
A grade school teacher gave the assignment to her class, that each student should think of a story and then a moral for
that story to share with the class the next day. The following day the teacher asks for the first volunteer to tell their story,
and little Suzy raises her hand.
'My dad owns a farm and every Sunday we load the chicken eggs on the truck and drive into town to sell them at
the market. Well, one Sunday we hit a big bump and all the eggs flew out of the basket and onto the road.' The teacher
asks for the moral of the story and Suzy replies, 'Don't keep all your eggs in one basket.'
Next little Lucy offers to tell her story, and she says, 'Well my dad owns a farm too and every weekend we take the
chicken eggs and put them in the incubator. Last weekend only 8 of the 12 eggs hatched.' The teacher asks for the
moral of the story and Lucy replies, 'Don't count your eggs before they're hatched.'
Finally it's little Billy's turn and he says, 'My uncle Ted fought in the Vietnam war, and his plane was shot down over
enemy territory. He jumped out before it crashed with only a machine gun, a machete, and case of beer. On the way down
he drank the case of beer.'
'Unfortunately, he landed right in the middle of 100 Vietnamese soldiers. He shot 70 with his machine gun, but ran
out of bullets, so he pulled out his machete and killed 20 more. The blade on his machete broke, so he killed the last ten with
his bare hands.'
The teacher looks in shock at Billy and asks if there is possibly any moral to his story and Billy replies, 'Don't mess
with uncle Ted when he's been drinking.'
Story Review
TITLE: Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone
AUTHOR: J.K. Rowling
With the release of the movie, I thought I'd give just a brief opinion about my views on the first
book.
Read this book. That is all I need to say. Some people will like it, some will hate it, be it is a must read. A lot of people
have critiscised it, saying that it is rubbish, or it goes against their beliefs, but these people haven't even read the book.
My personal view is that Harry Potter is a brilliant story that everyone should read. It is an easy read as it is written for
children, but it is still exciting, for anyone of any age.
Spook's Horror Stories
Just a repeat of last week, in case people missed it.
The Obvious
Crime
The fire burned brightly in the dining room. Two men sat at a long, wooden table. Each had a bowl of soup in front of
them. One man was breathing. The other was not. Both bowls were full of blood. Both men had been stabbed in the back.
Only one had survived.
The fire burned itself out. Darkness creeped over the room. Now both men were dead.
Just one hour before, they were eating their soup. One was called James. The other was called John. James died
first.
Also in the house was:
Mrs White - a house guest and family friend.
Mr Jones - the father of the two brothers, and owner of the house.
Mr Swindell - a millionnaire. He got his millions through blackmail.
Miss Redall - the maid. She had been working for Mr Jones for twenty years and had never been given a pay rise, or
sick pay.
Mr Henderson - a thief. He was released from prison into the care of Mr Jones three months
earlier.
These are the five suspects. Any ideas who killed the two brothers?
The investigation begins, next week.
