What do you do when you take a cab and it comes to say £9.70 and you have a £10 or a £20 but no coins? I find it extremely embarrassing saying "keep the change". 30p is mean I know - but what can you do.
In my case smile and say thanks alot and walk away very quickly - helping an old lady across the road as you go so that you can feel better about yourself!

Once because my plane into Stanstead was so late that myself and FC jumped unto the last train into London, then got a lift from a Taxi driver who drove past the rank looking for anyone heading to East London, we were forth in queue at the time.
Anyway we got out at the other end and paid the man £13 pounds for the pleasure. He then turned around and asked for a tip. I said to him 'Mate, you were looking for one last fare to take you almost home for the night. The whole fare is your tip right.' He stormed off in a huff though. I mean the cheek of it. What about the three sets of people in front off us at Liverpool street who were still waiting to get to Wimbledon, Walthamstow and Chelsea, who he hadn't lifted anyway. Does that cabbie really warrent a service charge for good service, I don;t think so.
