Firstly, cats are evil, do not give them gifts or you will be sucked under their control. This will cause you to perform ridiculous tasks and spend large amounts of money just to hear them purr.
Secondly, they find their own toys and ignore anything you buy them. Frogs are a particular favourite of my parent's cats - they fulfil most of the reccommended criteria and also provide a tasty snack, or even a clever practical joke when placed in your shoe.

Cats are not evil... just slightly annoying at times. Giving, or not giving them gifts will not affect if you're under their control or not. They run this planet you know...

The mice just play with our minds when we think we're playing with their's... and they commisioned the creation of the planet... but the cats are really the ones who run the show... why do you think the two fight so much?

See they *are* evil!
Any creature that can manipulate your mind so that it gives you nothing but you will do anything to hear it purr is evil in my book.
At least dogs actually like you back - rather than regarding you with disdain.

But dogs smell... *wrinkles nose* Cat actually clean up after themselves, and not all of them treat you with distain. My cat's quite affectionate, sometimes when I'm trying to sleep, or am trying to do something... but dogs choose bad times to be affectionate too.

Yes my cat does bat the pen while I'm writing, and yes it does make an illegible mess. She also likes to walk on my computer keyboard. Maybe she's just a frustrated writer.
