What do parents think they're doing!?!?!?

I went to school with a girl whose name was Calista Windermere, which was fine, except that her middle name was Olivia. Her initials, which were on every single piece of student and examination ID, were COW ... her parents did NOT think this through.

No, doesn't look like they thought too much about initials. If they'd swapped her names about, it'd have been better.

My son has the initials MRS (Surname). Well I think it will help him if the Titanic ever sinks again and they choose the women and children first from the passenger list.
"Yes, Mrs (Surname), you can get on the life boat." It might save his life!
When I was at primary school the very first black child to attend the school was called Julian Caesar.
Another friend of mine told me that his work colleague insisted on calling his son Richard despite their protests. His surname was Head.

Never heard that name before. Though "Scout" seems an odd choice of name too. At least Tallulah is a real name.

Some decent names fall apart with a bad surname.
Lauren, don't marry Mr Order
Mary, don't marry Mr Christmas. I do know of a Catholic priest with the surname Christmas. Yes, Fr Christmas. He must have seen that coming.
Don't become a priest of your surname is Afield!
Rosa, don't marry Messrs Seats, Trees, or Poser.

Scary....
I've heard of a few girls who've marries blokes with the same surname, so they never had to change their name at all.
Apparently there was a girl who worked in a local supermarket called Lynsey, who married a bloke whose surname was Lynsey. Staff felt kinda stupid calling for her over the intercom. Wouldn't have believed it myself except that I know someone who used to work with her.

She could have married someone called Doyle. That would have made me smile.
Tannoy "Can Linseed Oil come to the checkouts, please?"

yes, that would've been bad too. Would've had loads of people hunting the shop for a bottle to bring.

In the UK, footballers Gary & Phil Neville's father is Neville Neville. What were Mr & Mrs N thinking?
A few years ago I read about a couple in the UK who named their son Drew. It's a nice name but it doesn't really go with the surname of Peacock. I guess he probably won't end up a porn star.

Those poor kids!!! OK, you might be able to get away wioth just Adolf. I'm sure there are loads of them in Germany and Austria anyway. But seriously!!! That has to be some sort of child abuse. Wait til little Adolf gets older and realised who he was named after.

Loads of them in Germany and Austria? Only if they're over 70, really... And many of those changed their names.
You can't legally name your child Adolf here. Children's names have to be approved by the registry office here - almost everything passes, of course, but some things don't.

Hmmm. Saw a news report a while ago of some family who called thier kid "Adolf Hitler Cambell" and they complained when their local supermarket refused to put the kid's name in writing on the b'day cake. They claimed they just liked the name. That poor kid....

Think that was the same one as post 32.
I just shudder at the names and the spelling some people give their offspring - Blazington was a recent one I came across

Ooops. Sorry. Went awol for too long.
"Kessryn"?? Weird. That's not a name!!! And it'd never occur to me that it's some variation on Catherine.

I prefer how the French say Catherine it sounds so pretty.
I hate the nicknames that commonly go with it though, Cat , I don't mind so much but it's boring and very commonly used. Cathy and Cath I absolutely HATE If someone called me either of those I would ignore them.
One of my friends calls me Cassie, which is ok in writing but sounds too much like Cathy when spoken
I want a cool nickname, damnit!!
