How do you grieve for someone who has not died? I recently split from my girlfriend of 7 years and I am finding it even more difficult than the passing of a v close friend.

Sorry I didn't answer your question when you needed it answering, I only saw it today and I hope you've now at least partly worked through your grief etc.
For anyone else with the same question, here's what I did in similar circumstances:
Got rid of everything connected with the so & so who dumped me; cried my eyes out every day for several months; eventually decided that he (and the blow to my self esteem) wasn't worth being so upset about - but that was almost a year later.

Hi,
from what I can read in between the lines you have lost the love of your life but not the will to love.
I am sure there is somebody in the world worthy to share your love.
Somebody that wants to keep hold of it.
Love is everything. Never give up on trying.
Plus if you do love somebody honest and true, you will be happy for them to be happy without you.
