I was aware that several laws arose from the end of the second world war, but I didn't know about this. It's quite scary to think before that, docs could do what they wanted.

Researchers after didn't exactly adhere to it either. Milgram's experiment of 1974 also led to stricter ethical codes.

The code did little to interrupt the infamous Tuskegee Syphilis experiment wherein Black men were left untreated to monitor the natural progression of the disease from 1932 to 1972
