I agree, I have read many of his books and find it incredible that one man could write in so many distinct styles.
But the styles mentioned here are all crime / mystery / thriller, don't forget that he also wrote westerns, childrens and romance (though I have never found one YET).
These again are of a different style and written with in depth knowledge.

Hello Raz
Thanks for this post. I am always thrilled when I see a comment concerning my Dad and his books. I think of him as one of the great pulp fiction writers of all time.
You're right of course about the westerns, childrens and romance. I've a few westerns and childrens (mostly air stories) in my collection, but no romance. He also wrote some travel books, novels and a few books about his political believes.
But it was the crime that people read, and which gave him a chance to keep writing about how good wins over evel. Good, of course, with a Robin Hood perspective.
My quest is try and get them re-published and this, publishers tell me, will only happen if television takes up a series as they did 30 years back with The Baron and Gideon's way. I keep trying and, like Dad with his 720 rejections, I don't give up easily.
Incidentally, and away from the theme, it would be really helpful if you filled out your personal space.
Best

I agree, it's the pulp that he is known for, and loved for.
I myself have a couple of hundred of his books, and yes I do read them. They are read as designed in one solid read start to finish - not too long, not too short, just a nice escape for a couple of hours.
As for the non-fiction, again the range is broad, and the depth of research in them shows how he managed to get the rest so distinct in style.
If there are any of the pulps you require, let me know, I have a few duplicates.

Hello Raz
If you have a copy of The Toff Steps Out (the second book in the series) I would very much appreciate borrowing (or buying) the book off you.
