It was the local service, not the InterCity service between Bedford and St Pancras that was referred to as the BedPan Line. The InterCity service was called InterCity Midland Main Line and of course continued (and still continues) beyond Bedford via Leicester to Nottingham and Sheffield.
Even more nitpicky would be to state that this isn't the real Midland Main Line, as that was Rugby - Leicester - Derby - Chesterfield - Masborough - Normanton - Leeds Wellington.
