I did a 25 week course on Calligraphy last winter and obtained a craft certificate. I'm going back next week to start an intermediate course - it's fascinating! I never could print but now I manage a fairly commendable effort in blackletter.
I've started making a book of the complete Rubaiyat of Omar Khyyam and have spent many happy hours on it - first in draft then for real.
I can recommend it to anyone with a little patience.
