Hello Bluebottle.
I've just come from another forum - Bels's entry about Land of Hope and Glory, in which there's a quote from your entry here. I believe that the piece you refer to as Vaughan-Williams's 'Fantasia on Sea Shanties', is in fact 'Fantasia on British Sea-Songs' by Henry Wood himself.
Unless there really is a piece of music by VW which they used that year

You are right, I believe it was Wood's "Fantasia on British Sea Songs" - and it was Shazz who told me it wasn't.
