Having read this, and about how bunkers in the East of England seem to be hidden under cottages, you've got me wondering now...

There's an RAF bombing range near where I live - RAF Cowden, near Mappleton on the East Coast - and sat there, near the staff car-park, is a rather normal looking, yet thoroughly out of place looking house. It just doesn't seem to fit in.

Perhaps there's more to this house than meets the eye...?

There are still bunkers, though I think they are not all/not just nuclear threat related.

Odd thing, they cropped up in conversation over dinner at the weekend with some people still working in local government. Two of them knew where their local bunker was, in case of emergency.

The building looks more like something from an expensive housing estate, which is why it looks all the more odd, being pretty much alone in a field, next to a now disused bombing range.

Of course, this could be paranoia, and it may well be just a simple office building, just made to look a bit nicer than a square concrete office block...

That is incongruous!

I had a look around with google and couldn't find anything linking Cowden with bunkers, but there are an awful lot of underground cold war installations out there - found a bunker that had been bought by a company who'd moved all their staff there - said it was ideal, light and airy and no listening devices possible .

Perhaps a fishing expedition to the local pub?
